Life Dome
Created in the late
1970s in the Artist's then London Studio, for a project
that was never published.
Sometime during
1979 a client had an idea for a book about life in an
antigravity environment. Fellow illustrator Tim
White and I were asked to illustrate it.
One of
several pieces created for the project
Provisionally
titled "Space in Space" it focussed on the concept of
life in a weightless environment, more specifically, an
orbiting environment in space.
Zero
gravity allows the vehicle to travel along an electrical
feed housed in an overhead suspended cable system. Due
to zero gravity, the structure supports elements
positioned at angles impossible on Earth. Plants grow
"sideways" as do architectural features.
