Sword of The Sun
(From the book "Heroes &
Villains Volume 2")

After creating several of the Lone Wolf
series paperback covers for Editions Gallimard in Paris
for the French language market, Peter was asked by the
author, Joe Dever, if he could help with cover designs
for the UK editions, which had been experiencing lower
sales than the French editions, to which he agreed.
Thus it was that the artist was contracted by
Arrow Books in the UK to carry on with the series for
them, and in addition, many other overseas publishers
contacted the licensing division of Peter's then
company, Solar Wind Limited, to obtain reproduction
rights in various languages for the series with his
covers.
When then approached by Berkley Books
(N.Y.C.) for North American rights, the license
restrictions caused by an overlap of distribution area
in Canada saw the artist suggest creating yet newer
versions of several covers to avoid the exclusivity clash
that would have otherwise occurred.
They remain some of the most popular of the
artist's works created for the role play book genre,
along with many other series such as the Falcon series
and of course the Fighting Fantasy series of books.
